We are a part of a disciple making movement.

We walk alongside individuals and churches to help people encounter Jesus in a meaningful way. Having served in both Canada and the U.S., we’ve seen firsthand how faith can flourish when people are given the space to wrestle with their doubts, ask hard questions, and experience the transformative power of discipleship in Christ.

Disciple-making isn’t about programs; it’s about investing in people, meeting them where they are, and leading them toward a faith that is rooted in Jesus. Art Trek is a tremendously helpful contact point to do just that. It is for those who are curious about the Jesus they see in our lives.

With Christianity rapidly declining in Canada, we seek out those who feel lost, just as Jesus pursued the one sheep who strayed. Through genuine relationships, we walk alongside people in their faith struggles, helping them rediscover hope, truth, and belonging. Rather than offering quick answers, our ministry focuses on forming deep, intentional relationships—walking with people through their fears, doubts and deconstruction with the hope that they will emerge with a stronger, more resilient faith and welcoming them into a loving, Christ-centered community.

Art as Mission

1 Peter 4:10
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

We believe that art and mission are deeply connected. Creativity has the power to build community, spark conversation, and bring healing in ways words alone cannot.

Together, we—Derek and Jennifer—bring different gifts to this work. Derek is a disciple-maker and ministry leader, focused on equipping and encouraging others in faith. Jennifer is an artist and storyteller, using creativity to explore identity, restoration, and belonging.

Where Derek builds community and fosters spiritual growth, Jennifer brings depth and expression through art. Whether through Art Trek, Vancouver Island Church Plants, we are committed to using art and conversation as a tool for connection, worship, and renewal.

Want to be part of this mission? Join us—whether through participation, support, or simply following the journey.

Art Trek: Creativity, Community, and Renewal
Art Trek is a creative retreat rooted in community, adventure, and faith. Hosted by Vancouver Island Church Plants, it’s a space where artists and creatives can step away from the distractions of daily life, immerse themselves in nature, and create alongside others. We focus on using natural materials, exploring our surroundings, and letting creativity be an act of worship and restoration.

Vancouver Island Church Plants: Discipleship in Action
Vancouver Island Church Plants is about more than just planting churches—it’s about building real, disciple-making communities. We’re focused on relationships, faith lived out in daily life, and walking alongside people wherever they are on their journey.

    Where Art and Ministry Meet
Art Trek is a reflection of what we believe: that creativity is a gift, that community is essential, and that faith can be expressed in many ways. By bringing together art, nature, and discipleship, we’re creating something that feels both deeply spiritual and incredibly practical. Vancouver Island is the perfect place for this kind of work—rich in culture, beauty, and people hungry for something real.

  • Discovery Groups make a practice of obeying the scriptures we study together by power of the Spirit. By means of prayer and obedience, Discovery Groups will grow and spread - replicating ourselves by the disciple making process, thus becoming churches. These disciples begin by prayer and begin searching for their persons of peace. And in doing so, make disciples to make disciples who become churches.

  • Art Trek is a retreat for creatives ages 18 and older who join us while we engage nature as our inspiration for our art and music. This three-day, three night event is hosted by Vancouver Island Church Plants and takes place at the picturesque waterfront village of Telegraph Cove on the northeastern tip of Vancouver Island.
